• Diocese Of

  The Diocese of Argyll and The Isles
  covers over 31,000 km2, and covers a large
  area of the west coast of Scotland
  From the Mull of Kyntyre , up to Oban
  and outward to the inner Hebrides, Skye
  and the Outer Hebrides.
  
• First Church
  This was the first modern catholic church
  in Stornoway. The first mass was celibrated
  By Father J. Ryland Whitaker
  on the 11th of June 1961
  
• Our Holy Redeemer
  The Church of Our Holy Redeemer was dedicated
  in 1991. it stood untill 2004 when a tragic
  fire razed her to the ground
  
• Our Holy Redeemer
  After the rebuild the first mass was held
  on 1st April 2007, Palm Sunday.
  On Friday 25th May the new Church was
  solemnly consecrated by Bishop Ian Murray.
  
• Baptismal Font
  The Baptismal font was presented by
  Ferdinand and Gabrielle
  Count and Countess Zu Castell
  In thanksgiving to almighty God
  For the gift of holy baptism
  Recieved by their children
• Alter
  The Alter was built from local stone
  and carved by local mason
  
  
  
• Crucifix
  Crucifix was presented by
  The Dioces of Aachen, Germany
  As a freternal gift to
  Our Holy Redeemer's parish
  2006
• Tabernacle
  The Tabernacle houses the Holy Eucharist
  
  
  
  
• The Sacred Heart of Jesus
  
  
  
  
  
• Our Lady's Chapel
  is situated just off the main church
  and allows parishoners the time
  and space for personal prayer

• Stornoway
  Stornoway - the capital of The Isle of Lewis.
  The land on which Stornoway stands
  has been settled since perhaps 6000BC
  and there are many monuments which show
  prehistoric man’s presence.
  
• Stornoway Castle
  
  The Splendid castle
  in the town centre was built in 1847
  and gifted to the people of Stronoway
  in 1923. It has recently been renovated
  and is now being used for
  luxuray accomodation and the local museum
• Stornoway Town Hall
  The first town hall on this site was completed in
  1905 but was burnt down in 1918.
  The current building was completed in 1929.
  It was used as the home of the arts centre
  An Lanntair, and it is now host to various
  commercial and community activities.

Welcome to the Parish website.

Our parish church is to be found in Stornoway, the main town in Lewis, but the parish covers the whole of the Isle of Lewis and the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. This is a stunningly beautiful part of Scotland and our parish is the most northerly in the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles.
