Concert dates The Choir History Mozart Requiem Douglas Leadbitter Catherine Fish

Catherine Fish

Catherine is a singer, a pianist, an adequate violinist (her own words) and  a teacher. She was brought up in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, and read Music at Manchester University, graduating in 1988. She studied singing under Dianne Mathews and John Cameron (head of Lieder Studies) at the Royal Northern College of Music. Catherine has performed as a semi-professional soloist in oratorios and has given many recitals, as well as singing with a cappella ensembles and chamber choirs.  She taught music in Secondary schools in England before persuading her husband to build a house for her on her family croft in Point, where they now live with their two small children and no regrets.

She is currently working hard to revive the little Gaelic that her father taught her and sings with Tong Gaelic choir.  She also fronts the Stornoway Big Band and enjoys belting out songs like “My Way” and “New York, New York”, but her first love is classical music. For this performance, Catherine Fish has accepted the challenge of the baton from Douglas, having sung under him in the Stornoway Singers for several years.
